travel

Shortly after 10:30 (African time – an hour late) we pulled out of the gate. It was a captivating drive on a surprisingly nice road. I wish I had my camera ready to capture all the sights... some beautiful and some tragic. Expansive valleys, roadside stands full of fresh veggies, sheep skins and Masi jewelry … slums the size of small cities, hungry children, dried up fields, dead cattle. By far the most interesting and death defying thing we saw was a man riding a bike while holding onto the bumper of a semi.
